Using Lime Safely

Handle with Care!

Lime is a caustic substance that can cause serious skin and respiratory irritation, chemical burns, and eye damage upon contact.

To avoid direct contact with eyes, skin and inhalation wearing suitable PPE and washing hands after use is always recommended.

Safety Precautions

  • Ventilation - Avoid breathing dust and spray. Ensure good ventilation in the workplace.

  • Eye Protection - wear suitable eye protection such as goggles.

  • Protective Clothing - wear clothing that fully covers arms and legs, gloves, and suitable footwear to avoid direct contact with the skin. Wear face protection if needed such as a half face mask or face shield.

Additional precautions:

  • Barrier cream - using a barrier cream on your hands.

  • Wash hands - when removing glover, wash hands after use.

  • Large containers - mixing lime in large and high sided containers is recommended to prevent spillage.
